Scientific Research Data: a new French information portal

On Tuesday, May 29, 2012, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research launched an online information portal for scientific research data: www.donneesdelarecherche.fr.

The site is aimed at scientific and technical information professionals as well as different scientific communities that could benefit from this shared platform for issues related to scientific research data.

The portal is managed by an editorial committee that includes representatives from Inserm (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research), INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research), IRD (French Research Institute for Development), CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) and the French Ministry.

The goals of the site are to develop knowledge of scientific research data, increase awareness of its importance, and encourage consideration of issues related to scientific research data.

The site includes an events calendar and news articles divided into the following six categories: standards, projects, policies (with reference texts such as the OECD’s first declarations or the Berlin Declaration), careers and skills, links to online resources, and access to archives.
