	Introduction Guidelines Application FAQ Contact us ELIGIBILITY Candidates must be currently working on their Ph.D. Candidates do not have to be U.S. citizens, but they must be enrolled in an American university. French citizens are not eligible to apply. Candidates must obtain a letter of recommendation from their advisor(s) in the U.S., as well as a letter of invitation from a professor affiliated with a French university or research institution. The fellowship must begin between September 1 and December 15 of the fellowship year. The grant period is 6 to 9 months. Candidates must demonstrate in their research proposals how many months they require in France. All application materials are due on December 15th for the following fellowship year. You may also search on Campus France’s website for a French university professor (or person employed by a university or research institution in France) whose academic work corresponds most closely to your thesis.
